Michael D. Peacock, CEO/President/Operator, has devoted his entire business career to serving American Indian and minority-owned businesses. His passion is to inspire, mentor, and serve as a role model, empowering Indigenous and minority communities to achieve self-sufficiency and economic prosperity.
In 2019, under Mr. Peacock’s leadership, Southwest Business Development Consultants, LLC was selected and awarded a multi-year grant by the Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA) of the U.S. Department of Commerce to support business development across Indian Country and minority communities throughout the Southwest and the nation. Through the Four Winds Diversified (FWD) Project — Business Training, Economic Development, Partnerships & Job Creation…Indigenous & Small Business Communities Moving Forward — the initiative provides access to capital, business resources, and new markets for American Indian, Alaska Native, Native Hawaiian, and minority-owned businesses located in rural reservation lands and local communities.
In just five years of operation, the FWD Project served over 207 minority business enterprises (MBEs), securing $506,175,781 in awarded contracts and capital, and resulting in the creation of 3,214 new jobs. This success generated a 350% Return on Investment (ROI) for the MBDA, exemplifying the project's powerful impact on Indigenous and minority economic development.
In 2014, Mr. Peacock founded Go Weh Yaza, LLC, an American Indian-owned Joint Venture based in New Mexico, to address the growing demand for culturally aware, high-quality institutional food service management. Drawing on his entrepreneurial vision and commitment to community-focused service, he launched the company to serve a diverse client base including the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Bureau of Indian Education, Indian Health Service, tribal schools, hospitals, casinos, governments, and organizations, as well as private sector clients, federal agencies, and military installations.
Under Mr. Peacock’s leadership, Go Weh Yaza, LLC was established as a strategic Joint Venture between Southwest Business Development Consultants, LLC and Acorn Food Services, Inc. This collaboration not only enhances operational capacity but also qualifies the company as a Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) and Indian Economic Enterprise (IEE) under the Buy Indian Act—positioning it to better serve tribal and federal food service needs. Mr. Peacock continues to drive the company forward with a focus on quality, cultural sensitivity, and value, championing opportunities for Native-owned enterprises in the government contracting and institutional food service sectors.
Mr. Peacock brings over 35 years of consulting experience, with 28 years dedicated to serving MBDA programs across New Mexico and the United States. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree with concentrations in Accounting and Business Management from the College of Santa Fe and is a 2008 graduate of the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth – MBDA Partnership Program.
