As the Director of the Puerto Rico MBDA, Teresa Berrios leads the only federal program on the island dedicated to empowering minority-owned businesses. Under her leadership, the Center, operated by Asociacion Hecho en Puerto Rico, Inc, provides comprehensive support.In busin ess development, including access to capital, procurement opportunities, and assistance with obtaining small business certifications to do business with the federal government, such as 8(A), HUBZONE, Women Owned and DBE.
With experience in delivering management and technical assistance, Berrios has been instrumental in helping local entrepreneurs create new businesses, expand their operations, and create jobs. Her team’s efforts have been particularly impactful in disaster recovery, facilitating access to federal contracts and certifications that have enabled businesses to thrive in challenging times. In addition, their services continue to be a vital resource for minority and small businesses seeking to grow and compete in both domestic and global markets.
She earned a BA in Business Administration, with a major in accounting and a master’s in business administration from the University of Puerto Rico. In 2004 she took the course Implementing a System of High-Quality Service offered by the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth. She actively participates in other programs where she occupies the following positions:
